Libya under Kaddafi

africanexponent.com Ten Reasons Libya Under Gaddafi Was a Great Place to Live Tatenda Gwaambuka 5–6 minutes Libya under Gaddafi was not entirely hellish as the world has been made to believe. The citizens did not have the luxury of voting but Gaddafi made sure they had a high standard of living to compensate for curtailed freedoms. Was this enough? That is a moot point but the fact remains: Libya was a great place to stay under Gaddafi (provided one did not try to usurp power). Education and medical treatment were free Under Gaddafi, education and health care were free for all. A response to this claim by Masareef Edareeya , a Libyan citizen claimed the quality of education and health was appalling but that does nothing to the fact that it was free. No system is perfect but most are imperfect and still expensive. Gaddafi made sure his system was subsidised and even Mercy Corps attested...

Sleepwalking through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

Image
Butch Robinson shared a memory — with Archpriest Symeon Elias and 7 others. December, 12, 2022 Shared with Public I wondered through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, nearly sleeping. 1992 late November, I debated a cousin of Lord Rothschild, Donald Kagan, about something he called "political correctness." When he explained the premise to me, I immediately labeled it Marxist and an enemy of free speech. He described it as eliminating certain charged words and phrases. There has NEVER been a more politically and socially charged phrase in American history than anti-Semitism, and of course, it is Politically Correct. But that day, I didn't know who the cross-eyed-bastard was, only that his "Politically Correct Lecture Tour" was an exercise by a Marxist academic. It was not until this year, 30 years later, that Rex Christi mentioned that Donald Kagan was the Father of Robert Kagan, who is a Father of PNAC (The Jewish - Project for the New American Century), whic...

The Perception of Truth

Image
Bond Robin Note: I had to feature this priest's article because it mirrors a saying I adopted (I think is original) that the philosophy class hated and many less trained hate. That saying is "The Perception of Truth is primarily a matter of character." I wrote that because Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." Every explication I heard of that beatitude puts the seeing of God in the after life or upon rare states of sanctity. But I think in means those humble enough to dismiss their ego driven illusions, delusions, mythologies, and dialectical presuppositions. I would tie the first two verses of Romans Chapter Twelve to this, which specifically gives us instructions as to how to see what is the acceptable good and perfect will of God. One has to come to know someone personally to even begin to have a perception of their will. The perception of Truth is primarily a matter of Character; it is spiritual maturity and humility before ...

Pagan Christmas Mythology

Image
Why Christmas is not Pagan 17-22 minutes https://lettersfromthegulag.blogspot.com/2019/12/pagan-christmas-mythology.html Here is the link since My Blog is banned from FB. An increasing number of Christians have come to believe that Christmas is derived from paganism. They’ve heard that the timing of Christmas may have been borrowed from Roman sun god worship. Or that Christmas trees come from German paganism. Or that the star on top of the Christmas tree comes from astrological worship. But these myths are all so wrong. Christmas—the celebration of the Nativity of our Lord—is a thoroughly Christians celebration. Here’s why. The date of December 25 The urban legend goes that December 25 is derived from the birth of the ancient Roman sun god. But when we look back in history, we find that several Christian writers calculated the date of the Lord’s Nativity long before the Roman celebration of Dies Natalis Solis Invicti—Birthday of the Unconquered Sun—was established. The fact is ...
